Around the Cottonwoods

Today we got to walk around and visit the cottonwood trees.

The cottonwood trees are very big and have big roots!
They are fun to play around!

We also got to stand near a wall overlooking the city.
What an amazing view!
What a cool, breezy day!

We didn't let a little breeze get us down.
Well, actually it did.
But, while we were there, we decided to look for shapes in the clouds.
It was then that we noticed that there weren't any!

We each took turns sliding down the cottonwood root slide.

We also posed for outdoor pictures.

We enjoyed the beautiful day in our neighborhood.

Early Morning Tea Party

Mari found a pink Kripplebush dress
and a crocheted pinafore to go over it.
Then, she decided to enjoy an all night tea party on my dresser.

I decided to photograph her early in the morning.

When I reached over to move items and dust the dresser,
I knocked the lid off of the teapot.
It appeared to drop behind the dresser.

When I moved the dresser forward a bit,
I found a bit of dress sticking out from underneath it!
I reached over and pulled out Persimmon Kripplebush!
I do not know how long she had been hiding behind the dresser,
but she was restored to her place on top of it,
and this time in front of a glass cup to keep her from falling again!

Winter at the Botanic Garden

On Sunday,
I got to go the Rio Grande Botanic Garden!
This was my first time out in the big world.
It was a lot of fun!

There is a general area to the park with several gardens
and a big pond with geese.
I also got to see a road runner!

I loved the beautiful colors of the flowers in the Mediterranean Greenhouse.
It was really warm and humid!

Another great exhibit is Heritage Farm.
It is modeled after a 1930's farm in the Rio Grande Valley.
It is a real working farm, but there wasn't a lot growing in winter.

The most special place of all was Sasebo Japanese Garden!

I hope you enjoyed my little slide show.
I think I'm going to like living in New Mexico!

New Pirate in Town

This is Mari.
She arrived the day before Valentine's Day with a sweet heart capri set.
She has enjoyed eating cookies and playing dress-up.
Today's theme is "Pirates".

The outfit is an older gypsy outfit,
but Mari squeezed herself into the tight-fitting bodice
like anyone wearing a corset top.

She wasn't interested in the pirate ship,
but she liked the gold and jewels in the treasure chest,
and the parrot.

She makes a rather cute gypsy pirate!

Serving Breakfast...Anytime!

I heard a rumor that someone special might be coming soon!
I decided to welcome the newcomer with a home-cooked breakfast.

How does this look?

I hope the newcomer doesn't take too long to arrive.
I don't know how long I can wait.
I guess I could always make more!
